Professor Amita Batra, Professor of Economics, JNU, delves into the various emergency measures that have had to be instituted around the world as a result of the pandemic and the countrywide lockdowns. She argues that continuing trade uncertainty between the US and China will have huge negative implications for the growth trajectory of international trade, which is unlikely to go back to pre-COVID-19 levels anytime soon. She further argues that China's centrality in supply chains is not as easily replaced as current discussions on the subject suggest.
