Mirjan Schulz is a Research Intern at the Centre for Internal and Regional Security (IReS), IPCS. She focuses on contemporary democracy and transformation research as well as conflict analyses with regard to civil-military relations. In 2015, she successfully concluded an internship at the Bertelsmann Transformation Index. Prior to that, she worked for the Heidelberg Institute for International Conflict Research (HIIK) on the dispute between Assamese adivasis and the Nagas.

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Rostock University, Germany, and is currently pursuing two master’s degrees – in Political Science, and in South Asian Studies – at Heidelberg University, Germany. She has also been a student of Hindi language since 2013.

The Institute of Peace and Conflict Studies (IPCS) is the premier South Asian think tank which conducts independent research on and provides an in depth analysis of conventional and non-conventional issues related to national and South Asian security including nuclear issues, disarmament, non-proliferation, weapons of mass destruction, the war on terrorism, counter terrorism , strategies security sector reforms, and armed conflict and peace processes in the region.

Through close interaction with leading strategic thinkers, former members of the Indian Administrative Service, the Foreign Service and the three wings of the Armed Forces - the Indian Army, Indian Navy, and Indian Air Force, - the academic community as well as the media, the IPCS has contributed considerably to the strategic discourse in India.
