Pak-US contact likely to ensure Islamabad’s presence in Nato moot

The News, 8 May 2012

ISLAMABAD: Officials in Islamabad and Washington confirm to The News that Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar will shortly telephone US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in continuation with deliberation between the two sides to come up with a final agreement, which will pave the way for President Asif Ali Zardari to attend a Nato summit in Chicago later this month. So far, the US says no invitation has been sent to the President House. On Monday, Khar confirmed during a meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security that there was no halt in talks between the two countries and it would be wrong to label them as a ‘failure’.
