IPCS-Pangoal Institute Round Table on India-China Cconomic Cooperation

On 19 September 2016, the IPCS hosted a workshop with the Pangoal Institute, on 'China India Relations'. The discussion, held under Chatham House Rules, was centred on on China's Belt and Road and India's Make in India initiatives.
The first round of the round table involved discussions on the progress and challenges to China's One Belt One Road initiative. The two sides also exchanged views on trade imbalance; the non-existence of currency protocols between the RMB and INR; and Pakistan's support to cross-border terrorism affecting regional security. 
The Chinese delegation explored opportunities for Chinese enterprises to invest in India, particularly on how China can benefit from the Make in India initiative. Both sides exchanged views on prospects of bilateral mechanisms to conduct research on avenues related to trade and economy, geo-strategy, international relations and multilateral fora.
