AJIT DOVAL, KC, IPS (RET.)
Former Director, Intelligence Bureau

                 After topping the Agra University in M. A. Economics in 1967, Shri Doval briefly worked as a Lecturer and Research Scholar till he joined Indian Police Service in 1968. After a short stint in his parent cadre of Kerala, he joined the Government of India in 1972. He held various senior positions within the country and abroad which included North-East, Sikkim, Punjab, J & K, Pakistan, U.K., etc. Highly rated as an expert on terrorism, counter intelligence and operations, he was founder Chairman of the Multi Agency Centre and Joint Task Force on Intelligence. He retired as Director Intelligence Bureau in 2005. Shri Doval is recipient of Kirti Chakra, one of the highest military decorations for Gallantry. He was also country's youngest officer to be awarded prestigious Indian Police Medal for Meritorious Service at the age of 29 years, a record he still holds. A recipient of President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service, Shri Doval is a graduate of National Defence College.

Lt. Gen. (Retd) A.M. VOHRA

                 General Abhi-Manyu Vohra was commissioned from the IMA in 1942 and served in the Central Burma Theatre during WW-II. He was mentioned in dispatches. On Independence, he was transferred from the Frontier Force Regt. To the Gorkha Rifles in Nov 47. He attended the Staff College at Cambeley in 1950. After commanding 2/3 GR and formations at various levels, he attended the course at RCDS, London in 1971 and was appointed DMI in 1972. He commanded the 'Strike Corps' in the Western Theatre in 1973-1974. Subsequently he served as GOC-in-C Southern Command and VCOAS. On retirement he wrote regularly for The Tribune for a number of years and contributed articles on security issues to The TOI, The Hindustan Times and The Indian Express also. Presently he writes for 'The Defence Watch' and contributes web pages occasionally for the IPCS Web-Site. Apart from the IPCS, he takes part in the activities of the IDSA, USI, CLAWS and Centre for Air Power Studies. He has been a member of the Indo-Pak Neemrana Group since October 1991.

Dr. C. Raja MOHAN
Strategic Affairs Editor, The Indian Express


             C.Raja Mohan is one of India's leading foreign policy analysts and part of the world of academia, media as well as member of numerous think-tanks over the past two decades.He has a Masters Degree in Nuclear Physics and a Phd in International Relations. He was Professor of South Asian Studies at Jawaharlal Nehru University and is, at present, Editor (Strategic Affairs) with the Indian Express in New Delhi. His book "Crossing the Rubicon: The shaping of India's Foreign Policy" received widespread acclaim.

Shri Dhirendra Singh

                 Shri Dhirendra Singh was born in 1945 and obtained his post-graduate degree from the University of Allahabad. He has a Masters Diploma in Public Administration. Shri Singh joined the Indian Administrative Service in 1968 and served in various capacities in the Government of the State of Karnataka and the Government of India. He was Deputy Commissioner of Hassan, Chairman and Managing Director of the Mysore Electrical Industries and Vikrant Tyres, Additional Secretary in the Finance Department and Secretary to the Government in the Departments of Agriculture and Horticulture; Rural Development and Forests and Ecology. His tenure in the Government of India included postings as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Defence and the Cabinet Secretariat, Minister (Supply) in the High Commission in London; Additional Secretary in the Department of Defence Production and Special Secretary (Acquisition) in the Ministry of Defence. Post Kargil he served on the Task Force on Higher Defence Management. He was the Secretary, Ministry of Disinvestment during 2003-04 and spearheaded the IPOs of a number of PSUs including that of the ONGC which till date is the largest IPO in India. Shri Singh was the Union Home Secretary during 2004-2005 from which position he retired from the Civil Service in March 2005. He is a life-member of the Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA) and the United Services Institution of India (USI) and a resource person in the Council for Security Cooperation in Asia and Pacific (CSCAP).

Prof Mira Sinha Bhattacharjea

                 Mira Sinha Bhattacharjea was selected for the Indian Foreign Service and served in the Indian Embassy in Beijing after which she resigned from the Foreign Service to teach at the Delhi University. She taught post-graduate courses on Chinese Politics at Delhi University. She was one of the pioneers of Chinese Studies at Delhi University Mrs Mira Sinha Bhattacharjea is a founder member of the China Study Group and the Institute of Chinese Studies of which she was the first Director. She has also been Consulting Editor of China Report of the Group and now of the Institute. She is currently emeritus Fellow of the Institute of Chinese Studies. Her special interest is in China's foreign relations, world view and foreign policy in India-China relations and their negotiating strategies on the territorial issue. Mira Sinha Bhattacharjea is also currently working on the political biography of Mahatma Gandhi while he was in South Africa.

Prof. R. Rajaraman
School of Physical Sciences Jawaharlal Nehru University

                 Prof. R.Rajaraman is Emeritus Professor of Theoretical Physics at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. He got his Ph.D from Cornell University in 1963 under the distinguished the Nobel laureate Hans Bethe. Later he served in the faculties of Cornell University, Princeton's Institute for Advanced Study and the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. He has been a visiting professor at Harvard, MIT and Stanford on sabbaticals. His research interests span both theoretical physics in which he has published monographs and more than 100 research articles, as well as public policy issues relating to higher education and nuclear armament. He is also a member of the International Panel on Fissile Material.

Air Marshal Vinod Patney
Former Vice Chief of Air Staff

                 Air Marshal Vinod Patney was the AOC-in-C of Western Air Command under whose aegis the air operations during the Kargil Conflict were conducted. He retired as Vice Chief of Air Staff in 2001. Since then he has been associated with many institutes for strategic studies and has widely participated in seminars in India and abroad. He has also written many articles and lectured to number of diverse audiences on National Security issues. He has been a member of the National Security Advisory Board (Dec2001 to Jan 2004) and also a member of the Task Force to study Global Security Dimensions(2006). Currently, he is the Executive Director of Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute at Delhi.
